When I went to Bonnaroo last year there was a booth from a company called Facecard. I listened to their sales pitch and it sounded like a good idea. A Facecard is a prepaid cash card that can be used as a credit card or to get cash from an ATM. If you have a debit card or credit card you don’t need it. However, it also has a feature where you can transfer funds to another Facecard in under 30 minutes–usually 5 minutes. It sounded like a great idea and so I signed up for one and one for my 17 year old daughter. I thought it would be a great way to transfer $$ to her when she needed it. It works well until something goes wrong–like someone hacking your card and your needing to replace the card. It took over 4 months for me to replace my daughter’s card with many phone calls and emails in the process. FOUR MONTHS! Recently when my card broke, I ordere a replacement and the balance on my card is somewhere in cyberspace. This is unacceptable as a business model. While I do not suspect anything suspicious going on I do suspect STUPIDITY and bad software and unskilled software engineers.
I have been listening to Bob Edwards on XM Radio for about a year (Since I got a car with Satellite Radio built in). His interviews are extremely interesting. Invariably he interviews a write or musician and I buy their latest offering. Case in point: He had Jeff Jarvis on re: his new book What Would Google Do. (Amazon discounts it by about 40%) Started reading it and it is changing the way I think, already.
I made this video of KAL performing at Lotus Festival.
